Armed Cops Fled CST In The Face of Terror - Mumbai Mirror Reports

I was reading this report that appeared in the Mumbai Mirror yesterday - "BHAIYYA WHO STAYED PUT" and felt utterly depressed and shocked with the state of affairs in our country.

According to this newspaper report the armed cops that were on duty at the CST railway station on the fateful night of Wednesday, 26th actually fled the scene as soon as possible. This incident has been clearly recorded on the CCTV footage that was recovered by the police while investigating the case. According to what is seen on the CCTV footage these armed cops, about two dozen of them huddled together for a few minutes to discuss their plan of action as soon as they heard reports of two gunmen present in the station. Their plan of action, it turns out was to pick up their bags and run away from the scene, except for two of the brave cops who stayed behind.

I am shocked to learn that the cops whose primary duty was to save and protect the people turned cowards and fled from their place of duty. They are uniformed personnel employed for this very purpose. So, how did they even think to dessert the place? How could they run away from the danger and threat that faced the innocent people? They were the ones who were armed, maybe the rifles were old and obsolete, but they could fire a bullet, isn't it? There were about two dozen cops at that time who chose to run away rather than stay and fight two gunmen.

The story talks about one of the brave men who decided to stay back and do his duty and the irony of it all was that he was unarmed. Yet, he managed to put up a fight at least.

Now, my point here is that this incident that has been brought to light shows that these men have neglected their duty. They should be found and dismissed from their jobs too. Just the way an armed soldier is discharged by a court martial if he is found to have deserted his post at the time of a war. This is a disgrace to all the policemen. Why is there no action against these men?

How can a policeman run away from the very threat that he is supposed to fight to save and protect the common citizens? No wonder, that we don't feel safe anymore, with these policemen around us. Every other professional is taken to task for neglect of duty and even the license to practice is taken away, if he is found guilty. So, why should it be different for a policeman?

When a soldier fights for his country and dies, everybody is quick to point out that that was what he was paid to do. It was his job. So, why is the policeman not doing his job? How can the option of running away even be there for him? It really doesn't matter here whether he is armed or unarmed. He is supposed to fight with his bare hands if it comes down to that!

I am even amazed that nobody seems to be highlighting this fact, amidst all the other blame game that is going on. Instead the policemen are being projected as "heroes"! I am ashamed! Yes, there were "heroes" among them but, alas, those are just the "few good men"!

Note:- to understand all that happened, please read the account in the Mumbai Mirror in the link above and see pictures of the evidence of the extreme cowardice of the armed cops.

Telling Tale!

It is a telling tale of the nation that we have become. This happens when people stop taking pride in their profession, rather duty. It is the corrupt mindset of these people which disallows them to to put the service before self. Most of these cowards must have grown up taking bribes and have forgotten what they are actually supposed to do. None of them will even feel envious of the cash award that the sincere or the brave cop got, because they would make that much easily over a period of next few years. But you have to be alive for that and that becomes their logic for taking the considered decision of running away. Should the bosses in the Police not take flak for raising a force with no moral values and no sense of duty?

Why only the policemen? What about the politicians? Were they not responsible to ensure safety of the citizens of this country? Did they not neglect their duty? How were they given the easy and honorable option of resigning? They ought to have been sacked and enquiries initiated against each one of them.

How about the bureaucrats? They are the ones who create the red tape in all acquisitions, asking stupid questions like what is wrong with the WW II vintage rifles, don't they fire? Thay are the ones who have made the unnecessary lengthy process of procurement which ensures that the items wanted come only after they have become obsolete. They are the ones who have created the process which forces the departments to go for the lowest bidder, irrespective of the quality of the product. Should they also not take the flak?

It is easy to take care of a few rotten apples, but a basket full of rotten apples is of no use to anyone.

Nice article.

Sad, But True@ Taprial

We have nothing but a country filled with rotten apples. So is there a magic formula to convert the rotten apples into fresh ones?

The policemen are terrorists themselves as they harass and terrorize the common man for petty reasons and deliberately make the process of law and order so difficult that one is forced to give a bribe to speed things up.
