A Morning On The Boardwalk In San Diego
I was walking down the boardwalk yesterday morning and here is what I saw.
Parents were walking hand in hand as their kids were running in circles pointing and giggling with excitement and anticipation of playing in the sets of wave’s coming to shore.
In the water were surfers and boogie boarders riding the waves while others were waiting for the perfect wave to come that would give them a wild ride of pure fun and adrenaline mixed with saltwater and white foam.
There was a bodysurfer who I saw catch a wave and go through the "washing machine". He was tumbled and tossed at the end of the wave and came up yelling and hooting with a smile and expressions of excitement on his face I could see even as far away as I was.
On the sand shade umbrellas were already up some in small groups and some alone but still a part of the whole picture I was taking in. They reminded me of big colored mushrooms in a fair type atmosphere of barbeque smoke, family’s laughing and playing and a never ending ring of horse shoes hitting the poles.
Music was everywhere and so were the endless streams of rollerblades and bikes with big balloon tires. Everywhere I looked were strollers with little fingers sticking out pointing? I laughed.
I couldn't help think to myself. "I wish this wasn't a work day" I took a sip of my coffee and walked home to make ready for the rest of the day.

@eggs, sometimes we need to take
a "mental health" day...my work believes in it. It's ok to take the day off once in awhile to rejuvenate or relax or just enjoy what you're doing at the moment. I really liked this xombyte and although San Diego's weather remains consistent, all of us up here in the Pacific Northwest are already winterizing our homes/gardens/cars, etc. It was a perfect "end of summer" read for me! Nice job! +1

My sentiments perzactly Kjhack. We still have another month or so of warm weather here and than it will be cold again.
I know how time flies by as we get old I just turned 46 on Tuesday. It seems like I turned 45 the other day.

We can't drink on the beach or the boardwalk anymore so I steped out of my front door and looked at it while I slammed a beer to all of us!
I am glad tommorrow is another day of the long weekend because I am getting old and I don't think I would want to go to work tommorrow for fear of this good hangover I am going to have. Right now I don't even care. :) August is a great month I hate to see it end.
It has been a while since I have been on the east coast. I have a suggestion. A Xomba get together on the east coast. I'd show up for that bash.

yea bronco I am in San Diego for a little while. I will be back in Colorado soon I hope. It is awful nice here right now. I live right on the beach just a few doors from the boardwalk.
My stuff is out on the beach right now. I just thought I'd take five from the sun and go to the house for a minute.
It is Labor day weekend and there sure is a lot of bathing suits out there :)

There were lots of things I liked about San Diego while I was living there post-Navy, especially being near the open water and getting to observe people in Nature.

Hey thanks jdub. I like San Diego a lot too. My favorite part of San Diego is the roller coaster in Mission Beach. From where I am at right now I here the screams it causes late into the night :) The atmosphere is awesome. I just came in from the beach about a half hour ago. I like to swim.

Have you been to the Midway museum yet?
That is something to see, that being the former USS Midway as a floating museum with a selection of different aircraft from Midway's history. The ship is at the former Broadway Navy pier downtown and across from Coronado.
The Midway had recently come back from Yokosuka, Japan when I was getting out, so it was quite a shock to see her moored at the Broadway pier when my wife and I visited San Diego a few years ago.
